When it’s not on your doorstep

When it’s not on your doorstep

What do you do?

Do you wait until another event rolls around closer to you or do you travel the distance.

I’ve been to several events 100s of miles away from where I live, long train or coach journeys, hotels etc.

At the same time in Facebook groups I see people asking will this event be in X place or y place…

Because they don’t want to travel.

Yet even if it was on there doorstep, would they go?

I don’t know… but the question is if its really worth something to you

How far are you willing to go?

Crowns play tricks on the heads they lie upon

‘Crowns do queer things to the heads beneath them’

Tyrion Lannister (GOT)

Just that you do the right thing. The rest doesn’t matter. Cold or warm. Tired or well-rested. Despised or honored

Power can do some strange things as Marcus Aurelius had to remind himself to do the right thing, one can only imagine what power lay at his hands and the temptation it would have come with it.

Modern day we have world leaders despite growing evidence that we do not have a massive killer disease at hand still locking down their citizens

Whether they think they’re doing the right thing or their is something bigger at play I dont know.

(Probably the latter)

What they do is out of our control, we can’t control decisions they make,

But control how we act and react to them.

We can do the right thing

We can protest peacefully, whilst police use their force.

We can read actual science and not the news papers, to educate ourselves and others on what’s actually happening.

Or if you feel it’s the right thing you can stay inside.

Whatever you do, do what you think is the right thing

You may be already living the dream

You may be already living the dream

Have you heard the story of the Mexican fisherman

A buisness man approached him and started quizzing him on his lifestyle

Then gave him buisness tips so he could build an empire over ten years

The Mexican asked what he would do after he did that

The buisness man told him he could fish for leisure, drink with friends and nap in the afternoon

Of which the Mexican was already doing
(Read the full story for it’s full effects)

Today we are hit with advertisements left right and Centre, we can’t avoid adverts

That tell us we need to do this, earn that and have this so that we can be happy or live the dream

Yet we could be the Mexican, we could already have and do everything we need,

We could already be living our dream

Dont let someone tell you what you should be doing, figure it out for yourself

You never know, you might already be there

For so long you have dreaded what happens in a moment

For so long you have dreaded what happens in a moment

Seneca

And in another moment its gone and you breath and you think was that what I spent so much time dreading

And then as time moves forward there will be another moment we dread and the cycle continues

Yet most of the time what we dread is never as bad as we thought it would be and the bad things we do face well we handle them better than our imagination

Obviously fear and worrying have been ingrained in us for many thousands of years so to say dont worry is like telling someone to not hold their breath for too long

Breathing is natural and so is worrying and fear.

But there is ways we can reduce the amount of time we spend worrying as it is pretty unproductive

And that is to take action

Can you take action on the thing your worrying about

Yes > take action, then you wont have to worry about it anymore

No > take action on something you can do, it’ll take your mind off your worries and then at least you have done something and spend countless days worrying when there is nothing you can do.

We always suffer more in our heads than in reality (think that quote was seneca also)

2020 isn’t over yet

2020 isn’t over yet

So don’t give up on it.

Yeah things haven’t gone your way

So what?

A pilot doesn’t always have a good landing

But they dont blame it on the year

And they don’t just throw in the towel

It’s not been the best year for anyone

Yet there is still time to make a better landing

Don’t blame external events, how we respond today (not next year) will set us up for a better tomorrow
