The early bird can have the worm

“The early bird can have the worm, because worms are gross and mornings are stupid.”

‘You have to rise early to be successful’…

So I keep seeing, but is that all true?

Do you have to be part of the 5am club in order to achieve things?

There are some benefits of course, you can get more done, the rest of the world isn’t up yet, no distractions, You could essentially get a workout in, have breakfast and get the most important stuff done before 9am and have the rest of the day to do other stuff…

But if you anything like me then getting up at 5am is just plain useless,

In the book ‘The Power of When’ Dr Michael Breus Catergrizes humans into 4 main animal types (Dolphin, Lion, Bear and Wolf)

Dolphins and Lions are the early risers, whereas bears (Most of the population) their sleep and creative pattern falls more in line with the standard 9-5…

Then there are the wolves

‘Wolves have a medium sleep drive, they are nocturnal hunters.
There’s no way that a Woolf will wake up with a single alarm or go through the day without a few cups of coffee.

Wolves are moody pessimists, but they are also incredibly creative individuals.

They are impulsive and adventurous but tend to overdramatize from time to time and react with emotional intensity.

They prioritize pleasure before all, which is why they’d rather sleep than work in the morning.

They are most alert sometime around 7 p.m., and most productive late at night.

They have no idea why society is organized the way it is.’

(Summery copied for 12-minute blog)

The point is if your an early riser than enjoy your worms, if you’re more like a wolf, then make sure you utilise your most creative time in the evening and don’t waste it on the tv.

And the fall will be painful…

Eventually, the time that was not spent on learning skills will catch up with you, and the fall will be painful. Robert Greene

There was this one time not so long ago when an old work colleague, Saw me reading,

He was like “ah I’ve never really got into that” (reading) and then spent the next hour’s car journey playing some candy crush game on his phone…

A couple of weeks later after mismanagement from the company messing up the rota we were threatened with disciplinary if we didn’t come in on the Saturday because they were short-staffed.

I refused but my colleague went in.

The difference, I could afford to get fired, Simply by putting into practice the knowledge and skills I’ve learnt over the years from what I’ve read.

Even if you don’t want to be like me and have multiple companies you can still learn skills that will make you a better (unsackable) employee.

Linchpin by Seth Godin – Would be a good place to start.

The world is unpredictable, shit happens but the skills you learn, You’ve got them till you die…

Use your time wisely

Not thinking about something you don’t want to know about does not make it go away

Not thinking about something you don’t want to know about does not make it go away – Jordan Peterson.

You can’t ignore the dragon, even if it’s just the size of a hamster,

It will feed on the crumbs and rummage around the trash for leftovers,

Eventually, it will grow so big, you can’t ignore it anymore, by that point though it’s too late,

Its already burnt your house down and crumbled your world.

All because you’ve buried your head in the sand and tried to ignore the problem.

Get your spade and dig yourself back out of the sand before the tide comes in,

Face your problem, look at it for all it is and it might be nothing, or it could be serious…

But at least if it’s serious, you know what it is and you can take action on it instead of it being a thousand ‘what if its this’ problems in your head.

Don’t ignore the dragon.

To get from point A to point B you first need to know where you are.

To get from point A to point B you first need to know where you are.

This is harder than it sounds

Our egos try and trick us into thinking we’re better than what we actually are, so when we’re trying to get to point B

We’re skipping several vital steps.

People try and get rich without ever saving a dime, their egos won’t allow them to admit they’re broke…

So when they don’t get rich overnight they panic and take desperate measures and end up worse off because they missed those steps to protect themselves…

Then they curse the wealthy and blame them for tax dodging or some fraudulent activity…

(Seriously I witnessed someone accusing some dude who was filling up his merc for Tax dodging, all because he struggles to keep his punto going…) <Like geeze bro its not his fault you never read the richest man in Babylon

Be true to yourself – admit where you are so you can take the correct action to get to point B,

Because if you don’t know where you are, You’ll end up anywhere.

You Need To Love & Appreciate the Pain

You Need To Love & Appreciate the Pain

You can look at a bodybuilder or a bikie model and want to look like them,

You can look at a bill/millionaire and want their success

The same for those couples who seem to prosper through everything…

Whatever it is you want, you need to appreciate the pain they went through, the sacrifices they’ve made to get to that point…

And if you really want it, you’re going to have to love those sacrifices too.

Because they are part of the process.

Love the pain….

Or if your not willing to do it yourself,

Appreciate the pain others endured getting there
