“Not to live as if you had endless years ahead of you. Death overshadows you. While you’re alive and able, be good.” Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
My favourite Stoic principle is Memento Mori,
It means Remember Death or remember you will die…
On the surface, it sounds morbid, but it serves as a reminder for when we’re procrastinating and putting off till tomorrow,
When we step out of the house or go to bed,
Go for a walk or just simply go to work…
Whatever it is, It might be your last time doing it,
It helps us stop procrastinating and so that we get that important shit done,
It reminds us that when we’re out with our friends and family to actually enjoy the time you spend with them instead of checking your likes on Facyb (I heard someone refer to Facebook as that…)
Whatever it is that you’re doing today…
Memento Mori.
