No Bad Ideas…

Walking around the Bullring in Birmingham a notebook caught my eye…

The cover had ‘No Bad Ideas’ written on it…

I thought to myself that that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen and The cover contradicts itself because it was a bad idea to put that on…

Let me explain…

Bad ideas at the time aren’t always bad at least not to you anyway…

You might feel that your ‘Bad idea’ is a good idea so you go ahead and put it into works…

The feedback you get then lets you know its bad…

But not all bad, Because that feedback lets you know why it’s bad and then you can make it good again,

Which brings me to my second point

Bad Ideas fuel the good ones

Best selling authour JAMES ALTUCHER Practices writing down 20 ideas a day, If he can’t think of any good ones he’ll write bad ones down

‘Perfectionism is the ENEMY of the idea muscle . . . it’s your brain trying to protect you from harm, from coming up with an idea that is embarrassing and stupid and could cause you to suffer pain. The way you shut [this] off is by forcing [the brain] to come up with bad ideas’ (From Tools of Titans – Tim Ferris)

Don’t put pressure on yourself by coming up with good ideas only,

Bad ideas will help you come up with good ideas and bad ideas put into practice will give you valuable feedback to make them good…
